Freon(s)

Freon was first introduced in the 1890s by Frederic Swarts. However, it wasn't until General Motors began experimenting with CFC's in the 1920s that they began to be used as a refrigerant. GE was searching for a safer alternative to more volatile refrigerants that were utilized during that time.

Freon was a brand name that became a common term for CFC and HCFC refrigerants with the EPA mandated phase out of certain refrigerants. Refrigeration system owners since have found it challenging to keep their systems operational. RECCO helps owners with supplying original refrigerants and also converting to other acceptable substitutes.

At RECCO, you will find an extensive line of commonly used refrigerants in both HVAC and industrial refrigeration systems. Contact RECCO by email at equipment@reccousa.com or by telephone at 800-990-9423 to order Freon today.
